L'un des albums les plus célèbres de The Fall est enfin réédité dans son ordre de parution initial sur vinyle. « The Real New Fall LP (Formerly Country on the Click) » est le 23e album studio de The Fall.
Initially released in the UK in 2003, it was recorded at Lisa Stansfield's Gracieland Studios between December 2002 and January 2003 with producer Grant Showbiz. The subtitle is explained by the fact that the tracks were originally set to be released in April 2003 under the title « Country on the Click ».
Promotional copies were sent out and three of the new tracks were previewed during the band's 23rd Peel Session, but Mark E. Smith was not satisfied with the mixing and decided it needed tweaks. Pitchfork called it an « album as precious as anything The Fall released in the 1990s » and stated that « Smith's lyrics are at their best, full of insolence and absurdity ». AllMusic wrote that the album « gives the faithful another reason to believe ». The Guardian saw Smith in beautifully mad form.
Uncut called it « brilliant by Smith's standards. Almost brilliant by everyone else's ». MOJO rated it « as good as any other album in the band's monstrous catalog ». Pop Matters called it « their best album in a decade ».
This is the first time this album is released on vinyl in this original pressing order, as the original 2003 pressing was made in the wrong order and was never corrected – until NOW! Released on yellow-red vinyl specially for RSD.
