The Cramps was an American musical group formed in 1975 in Sacramento, California, and disbanded after the death of singer Lux Interior on February 4, 2009. Throughout their long career, although they were classified into different categories by their fans and by music journalists as trends changed, its members defined themselves as a rock 'n' roll band, both in sound and spirit - the term psychobilly, with which they are generally associated, more precisely designating an English scene, influenced by them, but whose main instigators truly remain the Meteors. The Cramps are indeed part of an American rock 'n' roll tradition, singular in their fusion of three distinct genres: rockabilly, garage punk, and psychedelia, all three also stemming from American counter-culture. Their initial stated goal was to achieve a cross between Carl Perkins and Shadows of Knight. Their music blends rockabilly (Carl Perkins), garage rock (Shadows of Knight), psychedelia, and punk rock, set against a backdrop of drugs, sex, and B-movie horror. Rockin n Reelin in Auckland New Zealand XXX is the second live album by the American band The Cramps, recorded in Auckland (New Zealand) at the Galaxy on August 30, 1986.
