The Clientele released their second full-length album, Strange Geometry, in 2005. Recorded at Bark Studios in Walthamstow (UK) under the guidance of producer Brian O’Shaughnessy, the album features twelve dreamy folk-pop songs. It is notable for its shimmering psychedelic guitars and string arrangements by Louis Philippe. On May 6, 2016, Strange Geometry was reissued on vinyl, accompanied by a full album download and six previously unreleased bonus tracks. Strange Geometry marks a significant milestone in the band's discography: it is their first album recorded in a professionally equipped studio with a recognized engineer/producer. The result is striking. The recording is both robust and subtle, giving each track the space it needs to breathe without ever becoming excessive. Freed from the technical constraints of production—adjustments, repairs—the band members were able to concentrate fully on the music, thus refining their initial sonic vision. Brian O’Shaughnessy's expertise played a key role in the creation of this accomplished record, rich in textures and captivating melodies. Finally, the mysterious and talented contribution of Louis Philippe, through his delicate yet powerful string arrangements, adds an extra dimension to this already highly accomplished album.
