On August 24, 2019, much to the delight of the unsuspecting LOCKN' Festival audience, the Tedeschi Trucks Band, one of the most astonishing live acts since the Allman Brothers, performed the classic Derek and the Dominos album from start to finish. It was an exceptional performance featuring Trey Anastasio (Phish) and Doyle Bramhall II (Eric Clapton).
This all makes sense when one considers that the band's leader, Derek Trucks, nephew of Butch Trucks, the late drummer of the Allman Brothers, is named after Derek and the Dominos and grew up listening to the slide guitar of Duane Allman, the regretted musician and brother of Gregg, who played on the original 1970 recording of 'Layla'.
