The Futuristic Sounds Of Sun Ra

Description

Recorded in byte during a single studio day in October 1961 and produced by Tom Wilson (Bob Dylan, The Velvet Underground), The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra and its astonishing improvisations already hint at the avant-garde flights of his future productions. The Afro-naut bandleader's first album nevertheless constitutes the last "traditional jazz" recording in a prolific discography. To mark its 60th anniversary, The Futuristic Sounds of Sun Ra is being reissued on 180-gram vinyl in a newly remastered version from the original analog master tapes. These reissues will be accompanied by Tom Wilson's original liner notes and an unpublished essay by Ben Young, jazz historian and Sun Ra biographer.
