Strut Records presents the official reissue of Hidden Fire Volumes 1 and 2, the final live album by Sun Ra, originally released in 1988 on El Saturn.Recorded over three nights at the Knitting Factory in New York, this album marks the end of 33 years of radical musical innovation. Rare and intriguing, Hidden Fire stands out for its darker, more dissonant sound, with Sun Ra playing exclusively on the Yamaha DX7 synthesizer. The Arkestra, unique with its three violins including Billy Bang, and singer Art Jenkins with his spacey vocalizations, creates raw and overwhelming music. Re-mastered from the original sources, accompanied by archival photos, a booklet by Paul Griffiths, and restored illustrations, this double vinyl edition reveals the final creative phase of the visionary Sun Ra.
