Groove Denied

Description

Persistent rumors are confirmed: Stephen Malkmus's "electronic" album, the king of slacker rock, will finally see the light of day! Stephen Malkmus did not go for an EDM sound, but rather an electronic groove inherited from Krautrock. He cites "Homosapien" by Pete Shelley or Human League as references. A list to which one could add Kraftwerk, as illustrated by the first single "Viktor Borgia". Stephen Malkmus began writing the album while living in Berlin, drawing inspiration from the local club scene. Recorded solo, without his band The Jicks for the first time since 2001, Groove Denied gives pride of place to an arsenal of drum machines and a series of plug-ins and soft synths, but you can still find all the lo-fi DNA specific to Stephen Malkmus. This new album will overturn preconceived ideas and establishes him as a key player in music, from the lo-fi rock of the 90s to hiptronica techno.
