Il faut pour cela un compagnon non seulement attentif mais attentionné. Kenny Barron remplit à merveille cette fonction et même plus. Sensible, vif, pertinent il appartient à cettelignée prestigieuse de « soliste » et « accompagnateur » que furent Earl Hines, Hank Jones, Tommy Flanagan pour n'en citer que quelques un.Stan Getz adorait Kenny et lui a consenti sur cette série de concerts une liberté d'expression total.
