Legendary jazz-rock band Soft Machine present this tribute to one of the greats of British jazz – trumpeter Harry Beckett – this limited edition EP "The Dew at Dawn" with a cover of a classic on the second side. This is the second EP in My Only Desire Records’ BritJazz series, which sees some of the contemporary jazz bands prefer to make new studio recordings of classic compositions from the golden age of British jazz in the 60s and 70s. Now led by guitar master John Etheridge, an original member of Soft Machine since the mid-1970s, and veteran Canterbury scene saxophonist Theo Travis, the band has seen some recent changes with bassist Fred Thelonious Baker (a former member of the Harry Beckett band) who joined for the 2023 album "Other Doors". This is also the first recording with drummer Asaf Sirkis, who replaced British jazz legend John Marshall.
