UNCIVIL WAR

Description

Already 20 years into her career, with 8 albums, a Grammy Award nomination, and 5 W.C. Handy Awards to her name, the young and beautiful Shemekia, daughter of the legendary Johnny Copeland. Through hard work, she could have been crucified by critics for being "Johnny Copeland's daughter," but she established herself as one of the great female voices. Born in Harlem, New York, on April 10, 1979, she was a true bombshell who exploded onto the blues and soul scene at 19 with "Turn The Heat Up," her first album, featuring a voice worthy of Etta James and Koko Taylor combined. Since then, she has confirmed that she is now not only one of the great voices but also one of the great Ladies of the blues. This new album adheres to the rules that led to her previous successes. Her last album was released just 2 years ago. It was the winner of the "Blues Music Award 2018." Produced by Will Kimbrough, and featuring Kimbrough, Jason Isbell, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Jerry Douglas, Sam Bush, Steve Cropper, Duane Eddy, and Shawn Mullins. This album consists of 9 new songs as well as 3 covers by her father, the Rolling Stones, and Junior Parker.
