« A Maximum High », originally released in April 1996, is the second studio album by Shed Seven. This 180g vinyl reissue faithfully reproduces the original Polydor UK pressing, with a 16-page booklet containing lyrics included. Recorded in London between 1995 and 1996 and produced by Chris Sheldon, this album marks an important milestone for the band from York, following their debut album « Change Giver » released in 1994. Written by band members Rick Witter, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin and Alan Leach, the album captures the energetic, guitar-driven sound that helped define the Britpop era. « A Maximum High » reached number 8 on the UK album chart and spawned five Top 40 UK singles: « Where Have You Been Tonight? », « Getting Better », « Going for Gold », « On Standby » and « Bully Boy ». Among these, « Going for Gold » became the band's biggest hit, peaking at number 8 on the UK singles chart.
