Even as he was wrapping up a sold-out world tour with Sting, Shaggy was already working on his next solo album, as festive as it is introspective: Wah Gwaan?! ('How are you? / What's up?' in Jamaican patois). The artist remains faithful to his Jamaican roots while exploring other influences. The first single, "You," is a duet with young Canadian YouTuber Alexander Stewart.
Shaggy has sold over 30 million albums to date. With tracks like "Angel" and "It Wasn't Me," Shaggy was a pioneer of ragga/dancehall, long before Sean Paul, Pitbull, J Balvin, Daddy Yankee, or Maluma. The artist has spanned decades, with his success never waning. In 2018, the Caribbean artist was still as popular as ever, as evidenced by 44/876, his collaborative project with British rock icon Sting. The album was certified gold in France.
