"Like A Bird Or Spirit, Not A Face", is both the literal and figurative expression of the vision of a deep album, composed and performed by the legend Touvan Sainkho Namtchylak. It asserts from the outset her desire to work with musicians from North Africa. Her producer, Ian Brennan, had worked with the Malian group Tinariwen and thus he organizes the meeting between Sainkho and the rhythm section of the group in France. In just two days, they write and record enough songs for a double album combining the two nomadic traditions. We witness an unprecedented collaboration between one of the greatest diphonic singers pushing Tuareg musicians into unexpected paths. The result is one of the most ethereal recordings, absolutely unique. When the three artists part ways at the end of the project, they agree that the making of this album is simply one of the most beautiful experiences they have had the opportunity to participate in. Sung in Tuvan, Russian, and English, the music, where the timeless and the spiritual prevail, transcends any need for qualification or genre.
