Saâda Bonaire

Description

THIS 80S PROJECT COMBINES NEW WAVE, DISCO AND ORIENTAL MUSIC FOR AN UNPRECEDENTED MUSICAL EXPERIMENTSaâda Bonaire. The fantastic disco/world music project from Bremen, Germany, that should never have seen the light of day. Formed by DJ Ralf Behrendt in 1982, Saâda Bonaire was a unique concept band centered around two sensual singers, Stefanie Lange and Claudia Hossfeld, and dozens of local musicians from the local immigration center. Originally signed by EMI in 1982, their first and only single, "You Could Be More As You Are," was produced by Dennis Bovell, the legendary producer of Matumbi, Slits, and Pop Group, in Kraftwerk's studio in Cologne. The fusion of raw female vocals, oriental instruments, dub aesthetics, African music, drum machines, and synthesizers remains unique to this day. EMI cancelled the project upon its release. This self-titled album brings together two songs from the original EMI single and eleven unreleased songs recorded between 1982 and 1985. Also included are unreleased photos and in-depth interviews with band members in a superb gatefold sleeve. These lost recordings from the early 80s are still effective today!
