What we managed to do, I think” - RBCF After years spent contemplating landscapes and loved ones and an increasingly unstable world, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever decided to turn their gaze inward, toward their individual pasts and the places that shaped them, on this second album, Sideways to New Italy. Led by singer-songwriters and guitarists Tom Russo, Joe White and Fran Keaney, the guitar-pop quintet returned home to Australia following an incredible tour that came after the release of their debut album Hope Downs. After feeling that the literal and metaphorical ground beneath their feet had shifted, the band sought to hold on to reliable things. New Italy is a village located near the rivers of northern New South Wales, where drummer Marcel Tussie is from. The strongly marked geographical identity of this album came from the fact that the band had lost its grip on itself after being catapulted around the world for an incredible tour of sold-out shows and festival performances.
