The Alexander Technique

Description

"The Alexander Technique" is Rex Orange County's new album. This project was produced entirely by Rex himself, in collaboration with Teo Halm (Rosalía, SZA, Beyoncé), Jim Reed, and James Blake, his long-time collaborators. "The Alexander Technique" is named after a therapeutic practice that addresses back pain to resolve deeper health issues. It's a fitting title for Rex's album: what began as a simple exercise to change his writing style has become his most intimate and open album. By framing his music with a raw blend of R&B and indie folk, while retaining the orchestral richness that has become his hallmark, "The Alexander Technique" marks the beginning of Act Two of Rex Orange County's career. A new chapter where he fully reveals himself, no matter the pain it might entail. "The Alexander Technique is really a look into my own mind and my experiences over the past few years – it’s almost a diary," he explains. Longer than any other project he has ever undertaken and musically more varied, "The Alexander Technique" was created over several years, started before and finished after the 2022 album "WHO CARES?". Listening to it gives the impression of watching an artist grow in real-time and confront all the pains that accompany that journey.
