Linea Del Sur

Description

Virtuoso double bassist, Frenchman Renaud Garcia-Fons is an authentic legend of music - thanks to a technique and an intonation as astonishing as the charm emanating from his compositions. Exploiting the range of the five strings of his instrument even in the high register, Garcia-Fons commands the music as a soloist, his bass playing evoking rather the cello or even the violin. Composer Garcia-Fons invites us to follow the Mediterranean of gypsy culture, leads us to Andalusia, before continuing his path toward Brittany and Latin America, India and the Arab world, without forgetting the universe of classical music. Although his influences are multiple, his compositions are always clear, focused and compact - they exude the charm of chamber music.
"La Linea del Sur", is a journey marked by encounters, nostalgia, expectations and above all hopes: A wordless travel journal, where only music can tell, so many chronicles from an imaginary south, with no other outline than the one our heart could give it. Linea del Sur is, of course, a quartet, brought together around this repertoire of eleven compositions. The accordion, flamenco guitar, double bass and percussion embody the instruments of the journey, a quest for a great south freed from all borders. Esperanza Fernandez, a great voice of flamenco, is our guest for 3 songs.
