« A PURE EMOTION » --- FIP ---. A unique journey between classical, jazz, and world music. A virtuoso soloist and composer whose talent is universally recognized, Renaud Garcia-Fons presents his latest project in quartet. Renaud Garcia-Fons is one of those musicians who become one with their instrument. In fact, he has always played the double bass from his memory! A musician with completely disconcerting agility, but who shines especially through the multiplicity and great variety of his projects. An internationally recognized composer and musician on jazz stages, Renaud Garcia-Fons explores the voices of his five-string double bass to traverse the music of the Mediterranean, flamenco, Indian, Eastern, African, and Latin music. He takes us on a jazz journey without geographical or stylistic boundaries. For the first time, he will be joined by Solea Garcia-Fons, his daughter, on vocals. Talent is indeed a family affair! « RENAUD GARCIA-FONS IS AN AUTHENTIC LEGEND OF MUSIC » ---- LE MONDE ---. « Renaud Garcia-Fons, still as dazzling with the bow, takes his double bass into unexplored territories. A beautiful musical adventure led by virtuosos. » --- FRANCE INFO ---. « Even Garcia-Fons' silences are impressive. » ---- LE MONDE ---. « He's In A Position To Unite Nations Of Music Lovers. » ---- All About Jazz ---. Renaud Garcia-Fons had the idea early on to add a fifth string to his "bow" - which classically has only four. He already envisions the double bass as a solo instrument, between composition and improvisation, thus forging his own technique and developing a language that belongs only to him. His unique style is immediately recognizable. His musical quest leads him to experiment with new sounds, first in jazz by joining the ensemble of trumpeter Roger Guérin, then the Double Bass Orchestra, the National Jazz Orchestra led by Claude Barthélémy. He will also collaborate with Nguyen Le, Sylvain Luc, Michel Portal, Didier Lockwood. Close to the tradition of flamenco that he studies and transposes to the double bass, he collaborates with David Dorantes, Esperanza Fernandez, Gerardo Nunez, Carmen Linares, ... but also with Angélique Ionatos (Greece), Dhafer Youssef (Tunisia), Huong Tanh, (Vietnam) Kudsi Erguner (Turkey), Soriba Kouyaté (Mali), the Chemirani trio (Iran) ... in the realm of world music. That same year, he was the first double bassist to receive the GIRALDILLO DE ORO for musical interpretation from the venerable Biennale Flamenco de Seville. A virtuoso soloist, he is also a composer whose talent is universally recognized through notably: - pieces for String Quartet commissioned by France Musique, for « Alla Breve », - Mundus Imaginalis created for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the Lower Normandy ensemble, - The theme music for the show « Les racines du ciel » on France-Culture - A new score for the silent animated film, the adventures of Prince Achmed, commissioned in 2011 by the Kurt Weill Festival in Germany - The Music for Sergio Simon's Ballet "Quelque Chose de Carmen" created and performed live at the Opera of Limoges with the musicians of Linea del Sur.
