RATATAT

Description

Ratatat is an American duo comprised of Mike Stroud and Evan Mast. Hailing from Brooklyn, the duo released their first album, simply titled Ratatat, on XL Recordings, recorded in Mike Stroud's apartment on a simple Powerbook. Ratatat's music is built on three instruments: guitar, bass, and synthesizer. Indeed, there are no vocal parts on this debut album. They seem to be imbued with a strange melancholy, reminiscent of the pleasantly slow sweetness of certain New Order tracks, or even early visceral techno records, like those by Black Dog, played in slow motion.
