Breton producer QUINQUIS is back with her second album! eor - meaning "anchor" in Breton - draws inspiration from Émilie's time at sea, leaving her island to sail from Brittany to the Faroe Islands, via Ireland and the Scottish Isles. More specifically, the album was inspired by the misty movements she observed offshore, resembling mermaids. Thinking of the sailors who, over the centuries, had seen what she saw, she began to imagine how these powerful mermaids might appear in contemporary life. Across eight tracks, she weaves tales of mermaids who long to be sailors, mermaids in love with other mermaids, and mermaids cursed for wanting to love like humans, all while celebrating the enchantment, power, and mystery of these fantastic creatures, and the role they play, particularly in communities with a direct connection to the sea. The album's ideas emerged acoustically before being enriched by modular and analog electronic elements, creating an immersive and singular universe carried by Émilie's sublime voice. The album is primarily sung in Breton, with two guests performing tracks in their respective languages: Desire Marea sings Inkanuko in Zulu, while triple harpist and composer Cerys Hafana sings Blaz an holen in Welsh.
