Public Memory is a blend of bruised and dubbed-out percussion, flamboyant synths, and sparse samples, all tied together by producer Robert Toher’s spectral tenor. The project’s sophomore album, *Demolition*, follows up the *Veil of Counsel* (2017) EP and *Wuthering Drum* (2016) full-length with cinematic force. While Public Memory’s prominent krautrock and triphop rhythms are represented here, *Demolition* explores a wider range of tempos and a breadth of alien emotions with layers of electronic and analog drums, Korg synthesizers, and field recordings. Themes of rebirth and reflection permeate the album’s atmosphere, which is rich in delay, reverb, and textures that evoke a science-fiction narrative. Toher’s artful use of space and tension makes the world of *Demolition* eerie, emotive, and above all, narcotic. Each track is an existential procession.
