Description

Dive into the disturbed universe of Portrayal Of Guilt with Devil Music, the latest EP from the Austin-based trio. After releasing two albums in 2021 - We Are Always Alone and Christfucker - they followed up in 2022 with a relentless year of touring. Amidst this hectic schedule, the band took the time to create the five new songs that make up Devil Music with Matt Michel (Majority Rule). They then elevated their creative vision with Ben Greenberg (Uniform), recording alternative versions of each song with orchestral arrangements instead of the band's standard instrumentation. On Devil Music, Portrayal of Guilt aims to create a visceral listening experience. In both versions of these songs, whether it's the heavier, more familiar aspect of side A or the orchestral arrangements of side B, the band is determined to take the listener along with them into what feels like a state of awareness. These songs are another example of how Portrayal of Guilt pushes the boundaries of their sound to the extreme. Since their inception, they have challenged genre boundaries, taking elements from screamo, blackened metal, grind, and industrial music to create something unique, unsettling, and expert. Devil Music is the soundtrack of a future without a future, where every path taken leads to ruin.
