Fear of a Blank Planet

Description

Double Gatefold Vinyl Having recently announced that Snapper Music will be representing Porcupine Tree's Transmission imprint worldwide, new CD and LP reissues from the band's extensive catalog will be released throughout 2021. Originally released in 2007, "Fear of a Blank Planet" is Porcupine Tree's ninth studio album. It was the band's best-selling album at the time, the first to enter the US Billboard Top 100, and charted across Europe. It earned the band a Grammy nomination and is featured in Rolling Stone magazine's greatest prog albums of all time. "Fear of a Blank Planet" is an ambitious 50-minute work consisting of 6 tracks that complement each other to form a cohesive whole. British rockers Porcupine Tree created a concept album based on Bret Easton-Ellis' novel "Lunar Park", with lyrics detailing how the teenage protagonist struggles with his bipolar disorder and lack of attention through medication and overstimulation by the Internet. The music uses sprawling melodies, atmospheric guitars, and drums that surge into chaotic moments to echo the main character's manic-depressive states. "Fear of a Blank Planet" includes appearances from Robert Fripp (King Crimson) and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson.
