Such are the guiding principles of Pigeon, a psychedelic quintet from the English coastal town of Margate, whose music transcends borders. Pigeon is composed of Falle Nioke (vocals, percussion), Graham Godfrey (drums), Josh Ludow (bass), Steve Pringle (keyboards, synthesizers) and Tom Dream (guitar), musicians who have collaborated with artists such as Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka, SAULT and Saul Williams. Their debut album, OUTTANATIONAL, is an exhilarating collection of festive, boundaryless tracks: imagine William Onyeabor in space or early Hot Chip creating motorik afrobeat in a 1970s New York loft. Buoyed by a series of critically acclaimed EPs, airplay on 6Music and prestigious slots at UK festivals like Glastonbury, Pigeon has evolved, moving away from afro-disco towards a more melancholic sound. It is an ambitious album, steeped in intoxicating krautrock, post-punk and punk-funk, owing much to the power of the groove and searching for a sense of home. The story continues.
