LEARNING

Description

Perfume Genius is the pen name of Mike Hadreas, a young songwriter from Seattle who established himself with his first album 'Learning' (2010) as one of the most promising and singular talents on the indie scene. His writing, at once touching, intimate and venomous, as well as his raw performance, recall the early days of Sufjan Stevens or the most beautiful works of Antony Hegarty. 'Learning' is entirely self-produced and recorded from his bedroom, which accentuates the cathartic aspect of the album. It's the piano from the opening that grabs your heart and sends shivers down your spine. Ten equally raw, stripped-down tracks, and then that voice, right there, that brings tears to your eyes.
