Pascal Comelade, the undisputed master of instrumental riffs inspired by popular music, somewhere between Ennio Morricone, MC5 and Can, is back.
With his Perpignan pals and long-time friends, The Limiñanas, a duo that brings together 60s French pop, Italian film soundtracks and psychedelic garage. This new album, ‘Boom Boom’, follows ‘Traité de guitares triolectiques à l’usage des portugaises ensablées’, their first trio work released in 2015.
Here, Comelade’s inimitable piano is complemented by equally hypnotic guitar riffs, some precious soloists (Ivan Telefunken, Xarim Aresté and Lalo Lopez) and sprinkled with vocal parts entrusted to Lionel Limiñana, Marc Hurtado (collaborator of Alan Vega and Lydia Lunch) and Mark Cunningham. Marcel Duchamp is also in on the act: "My niece is cold because my knees are cold", that says it all! A unique language evoking folklore, the underground, repetitive music and wide open spaces.
