Parquet Courts
"Sunbathing Animals"
Rough Trade
Parquet Courts are back with their second album, Sunbathing Animals.
The four Brooklyn-based Texans had garnered significant attention with their debut album, Light Up Gold, and received rave reviews for their originality and raw energy. Their saturated punk tracks offered a glimpse into city life.
Sunbathing Animals was created during a year of intensive touring, interrupted only by three recording sessions that led to the album's birth. The time spent in transit shaped their lyrics, which explore themes of displacement, doubt, and captivity. However, it is not a record about despair, but rather about understanding the freedom and tranquility that all forms of captivity entail.
Parquet Courts are the new garage-punk sensation from the US, at the crossroads of The Fall, Neil Young, Pavement, and even Modern Lovers.
Parquet Courts are Austin Brown, A. Savage, Sean Yeaton, and M. Savage.
