When conceptualizing ‘Switched-On,’ Pachyman drew inspiration from the Lovers Rock era of reggae and the iconic Studio One. The album also pays homage to a time when musicians began manipulating synthesizers to create gloriously off-kilter sounds. His evolution surfaces on ‘You Looked at Me,’ which fuses a Krautrock-esque rhythm with synths reminiscent of Boards of Canada. Pachy’s sound expands further on ‘Trago Coqueto,’ an impudent love song sung through the lens of a cocktail and an ode to his Puerto Rican roots.
