From parties to dance nights to operas, Orchestra of Spheres has built a reputation for its innovative, genre-bending music and equally exploratory performances. Now, their cosmic, dance-oriented sound is available as "Nonagonic Now," offering everyone the chance to ride the childlike disco wave that Orchestra of Spheres unleashes in their own universe: just watch your coffee table dancing along. While their sound is unique, the band draws from a wide palette: African rhythms, free jazz structures, electronic music, krautrock, and Indonesian gamelan. "Nonagonic Now" was recorded at the Frederick Street Sound and Light Exploration Society, a aptly named club run by the band and other artists from Wellington's creative scene. The album is creative and exploratory from start to finish, matched only by the band's colorful stage outfits. If Orchestra Of Spheres sees itself as a cosmic star, then the album is connected to the earth only by its rhythmic power, which also stems directly from the opening track "Hypercube."
