Released on August 25, 2023, Formless by Ora Cogan is an album that finds beauty, absurdity, humor, and unexpected joy in the darkest moments. Formless took shape in the abyss of pandemic-related grief and isolation. "I spent a lot of time wandering aimlessly in the woods with my dog," says Cogan. The result is a torrent of reflections on awkward love, pain, inner conflicts, and the struggle to find ways to feel good when everything is going wrong. Recorded mostly in a single take with the rhythm section of David Proctor and Finn Smith on analog tape at Risque Disque studio on Vancouver Island, and co-produced by Cogan and David Parry of Loving, the album features international guests, including Cormac Mac Diarmada of Lankum, who plays strings on "Feel Life," and a duet with Y La Bamba on "Ways of Losing."
