Ohmme, the Chicago-based duo of Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart, is releasing their new album 'Fantasize Your Ghost' on the Joyful Noise Recordings label. The palpable chemistry in Ohmme's music stems from a decade-long friendship. In 2014, they formed the band with the intention of unconventionally exploring what their instruments are capable of. With drummer Matt Carroll, they pushed the boundaries of guitar music with the experiments of their eponymous EP in 2016, then with 'Parts', an adventurous debut album released in 2018. After extensive tours with Wilco, Twin Peaks, Iron & Wine and others, their vision expanded. 'Fantasize Your Ghost' is the direct result of all that time spent on the road, a record that asks questions about oneself, the future, and the meaning of the word home when constantly traveling. The single "3 2 4 3" addresses the terrible realization that a change is necessary. The initial foundations of the album were laid at Sam Evian's Flying Cloud Studios in upstate New York with intensely open and collaborative sessions. The album was then recorded over a six-day session in August 2019 at Post Farm alongside artist and producer Chris Cohen. In this idyllic setting, just outside Chicago, the songs came to life. 'Fantasize Your Ghost' more fully captures the band's magnetism and energy on stage. "Selling Candy," a short, nostalgic yet explosive snapshot of childhood, is the perfect example. The dystopian "The Limit" further extends the band's dynamic palette. Made by two best friends who believe in each other, 'Fantasize Your Ghost' is a courageous album that symbolizes the exciting and sometimes terrifying joy of moving forward even when you don't know where you're going.
