THE 2ND SOLO ALBUM FROM THE ENGLISH SINGER-SONGWRITER AND MUSICIAN BASED IN PARIS – ASTOUNDING HYPERSENSITIVE LO-FI FOLK SONGS After a highly acclaimed first solo album in 2021, *Communication Problems*, Nick Wheeldon, the Parisian Englishman from Sheffield, returns with a second album, *Gift*. Over the last ten years, Nick Wheeldon has recorded nearly 20 records with countless bands (The Jesus Loves Heroin Band, Os Noctàmbulos, The Necessary Separations, 39th & the Nortons, Nick & Alizon, Sex Sux, Nick Drunken Broken Arms & His False NingaDylan Cobb, Dômo Kômo, etc.), each offering him a new opportunity to refine his Gene Clark and Alex Chilton-inspired sound – a sound both majestic and fragile, delicate and raw. His first solo album was recorded in his friends' bedrooms. *Gift* pushes the creative process further, embodying the idea of a collective painting where the song's form and format are never the same twice. *Gift* was recorded entirely live on a Tascam 388, 8-track, during a 10-hour session. The band, Demon Hosts, had never played together before and had only four three-hour rehearsals to learn and arrange the songs. The time constraint became an asset in the creative process. *Gift* speaks of the fragility of love: what was once medicine can become poison if taken for granted. Under the watchful ear of Vincent Hivert (producer and 6th band member), the Demon Hosts add amazing colour, form, confidence, and experience to what is certainly Nick Wheeldon's best collection of songs. *Gift* and its hypersensitive lo-fi folk songs give us the feeling of entering Wheeldon's inner world. The album is released on Le Pop Club Records, delighted to collaborate again with an artist who continues to prove he is one of the most important French musicians of our time, English though he may be.
