Songs for Judy

After the success of his cult album Harvest, Neil Young went through several dark years of depression and addiction. This period was marked by several dark albums like On the Beach (1974) and Tonight's the Night (1975). In 1976, the Canadian spent most of the year on the road with his band Crazy Horse, stopping in Malibu to record the ten acoustic tracks for his album Hitchhiker, which was finally released last year. Three months later, back on the road, Neil Young performed a solo acoustic opening set for an hour before his rock shows with Crazy Horse. These performances are featured on the live album Songs for Judy, set to be released on November 30. This collection of acoustic tracks was recorded on cassette by filmmaker Cameron Crowe and concert photographer Joel Bernstein, who followed Young's tour. The album includes the unreleased track No One Seems to Know, as well as raw versions of the artist's signature songs like Heart of Gold, Sugar Mountain, and Too Far Gone, along with the strange political ballad Campaigner.
