Originally released in June 1985, Mötley Crüe's third studio album, Theatre of Pain, marked the arrival of a bold sound and style, while retaining the hard rock intensity characteristic of the band. This avant-garde album served as a model, both musically and visually, for many groups that followed, while the Crüe continued, for their part, to evolve their image and sound with each new album.
