Aromanticism

Description

After his recent performances at the Sasquatch Festival, Boston Calling, and the FORM Arcosanti festival, and after announcing his signing with Jagjaguwar and his tour, Moses Sumney has announced the release of his first album. Since his stage debut in 2014, Moses Sumney has generated impressive word-of-mouth thanks to his recordings and ultra-dynamic live performances. It’s a natural, patient, and rare rise in a music industry that moves at breakneck speed. With his soft and haunting voice, Sumney creates the music of the future and transforms classic patterns by reinterpreting jazz gems. His voice tells the story of a personal journey through universal solitude against a mystical soundscape. After the release of his first cassette, Mid-City Island, and his 2015 vinyl Seeds/Pleas, Sumney has performed around the world alongside heavyweights like David Byrne, Karen O, Sufjan Stevens, Solange, and James Blake, among others. With his 2016 EP Lamentations, the Ghanaian and Californian artist expanded the spectrum of his "chamber" music, incorporating songs with more elaborate productions and evocative lyrics. Today, after three years of stops at renowned festivals around the globe and select collaborations, Sumney offers us his first album, Aromanticism, an intimate recording where the lack of love is seen as a dreamlike landscape.
