Long before Brian Eno did, Mort Garson was already playing 'discreet music.' Morton S. Garson was a Canadian composer, arranger, and songwriter, a pioneer of electronic music. Trained at Juilliard and a post-war studio musician, he composed lounge hits, scored the moon landing in 1969, and arranged music for Doris Day. When he discovered the synthesizer, he never wanted to make pop music again. He is now primarily known for his albums from the 60s and 70s, which were among the first to use Moog synthesizers. His most famous album, Mother Earth's Plantasia, released in 1976, is designed to be played for plants and the people who love them. The work is full of charming, bucolic melodies played on a Moog synthesizer of the time.
