Liturgy of Death is a long-awaited celebration of the band's 40th anniversary, tracing their legacy since their formation in Oslo in 1984, and reasserting their status as a pioneering force on the global black metal scene. Liturgy of Death offers over 45 minutes of music in its standard editions, and exceeds 58 minutes in the limited and exclusive versions. The band garnered worldwide attention through Jonas Akerlund's film, Lords of Chaos, starring Rory Culkin, as well as Val Kilmer's sons, Wilson Gonzalez Ochsenknecht, and Stellan Skarsgård.
