A Geography of Absence

Description

After exploring the snowy mountains of *Alpestres*, released on Hands in the Dark in 2018, composer Matthias Puech ventures into new territory, charting a cartography of the invisible where the journey, in chiaroscuro, promises to be a rite of passage. *A Geography of Absence*, as introspective as it is unpredictable, plunges the listener into a unique sensory whirlwind where organic matter becomes almost palpable. A theoretical computer scientist and engineer at GRM, Matthias Puech blends synthetic music and field recording, capturing the sounds around him and creating his own sonic language using synthesizers he designs and develops; he is notably responsible for the Ensemble Oscillator and the Tapographic Delay, manufactured by the American company 4ms.
