In 1968, Valle was commissioned by Verve to record his Brazilian hits in English to take advantage of the huge Getz-Gilberto-Jobim-Mendes-Astrud market that existed at the time. Valle's rapid and astonishing artistic growth is evident on this brilliant bossa nova album. Fans of Sérgio Mendes and Astrud Gilberto (who both recorded tons of Valle's songs) will greatly appreciate it, as Samba '68 is definitely one of the most "lounge vibe" records out there.
