Zoë Randell and Steve Hassett, the two Australian members of the folk duo Luluc, attracted the attention of Sub Pop co-founder Jonathan Poneman with their first album, who describes their music as “enchanting, tender, subtle and beautiful.” The label announces the release of a second, more accomplished album, while retaining the band’s raw musical quality. Especially since Passerby was recorded in collaboration with Aaron Dessner, member of The National and an early fan of Luluc. The result of this collaboration is a 10-track album wonderfully polished, filled with beautiful, slow melodies and delicate harmonies.
