Description
Throughout his long career, Heinrich Schütz continually questioned himself. Among all the genres of sacred music he explored, the realm of oratorio offers us the most contrasting visions. Dated 1664, his oratorio of the Nativity appears to us in many respects as the model of the genre as it would later be approached by the musicians of Johann Sebastian Bach's generation. Vox Luminis has reconstructed the score from the manuscript sources of the Düben Collection in Uppsala.
