CANDY

Description

A highly regarded sideman for John Coltrane, Hank Mobley, and Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan had a very short career, although he started at the age of 18 in Dizzy Gillespie's orchestra. Murdered by his wife at the age of 33, he did not have the time to make a name for himself with the general public. Yet this trumpeter was one of the leading figures of hard bop. Long before his best-selling album, The Sidewinder (1963), he was already establishing himself as a quartet leader in this Candy recorded when he was only 19 years old. A testament to his talent that would be a mistake to overlook. Excerpt from the ideal Fnac discography 2017.
