Aurora - Vinyle Bleu Transparent

Description

With Aurora, Lathe of Heaven delivers a bold second album, blending gothic post-punk, new-wave synths, and bursts of underground pop. Recorded with Ben Greenberg (Circular Ruin) and mastered by Brad Boatright, the record evokes the spirits of Musta Paraati, The Cure, and A Flock of Seagulls, in a tense mix of melody, urgency, and melancholy. Conceived as a collection of science fiction short stories, Aurora draws inspiration from Ursula K. Le Guin and Octavia Butler to address weighty themes: colonialism, ecocide, identity, and war. “Oblivion” plays with the loss of meaning of words, “Exodus” revisits Theseus’ paradox, and “Portrait of a Scorched-Earth” directly confronts the reality of the war in Gaza. Lathe of Heaven delivers a literary and committed album, where beauty carves its way through the fracture. An ambitious work, both sensory and political. Transparent blue vinyl edition.
