“Lapalux is capable of creating tracks with IDM tendencies while remaining accessible.” Tsugi Lapalux will release his 3rd album Ruinism on June 30 on Brainfeeder, Flying Lotus’s label. Partly inspired by the concept of hypnagogia, a state of semi-consciousness between wakefulness and sleep, Ruinism explores this notion and the English producer takes us into the limbo between life and death. In this space where the finite and the infinite intertwine. Ruinism was born following the score for the theatrical piece 'Depart' that Lapalux wrote and which was performed in the East London cemetery; on this album Stuart Howard (aka Lapalux) deconstructs and reconstructs sound, and blends many sonic palettes. From this sonic deconstruction emerges a work of subtle and delicate beauty. Ruinism features collaborations with Louisahhh, JFDR (Jófríður Ákadóttir) from the band Gangly among others. The visual art direction is entrusted to Marielle Tepper and the physical formats include notably a deluxe 2LP edition produced in collaboration with the highly prestigious Atelier Imprimerie du Marais. Lapalux, whose real name is Stuart Howard, is a British producer known for his experimentation and his use of sound “textures.” Ruinism will be his 3rd album on Brainfeeder.
