Laibach is back with a new symphonic album!Laibach and A/POLITICAL present Alamut, a brand new original symphonic album inspired by the novel of the same name. The album was recorded by Laibach and the musicians who performed Alamut live in a former Crusader castle in Ljubljana in 2022. Among them: the RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, the Tehran Human-Voice Ensemble, the Gallina female choir, as well as AccordiOna, a female accordion orchestra supported by other accordionists, under the direction of Iranian conductor Navid Goharib.Alamut is an original symphonic work by Laibach, inspired by a famous 11th-century Persian tale, recounted by Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol in his eponymous novel published in 1938. The story revolves around Hassan-i Sabbāh, charismatic religious and political leader of the Nizari Isma'ilis, and founder of a formidable military formation known as the Assassins, whose name still inspires fear and respect today. Proclaiming himself a prophet, Hassan-i Sabbāh wages a holy war against the Seljuk Empire from his lair, the fortress of Alamut. Bartol's novel, written while the Slovenian author witnessed the rise of fascism in Trieste, explores the mechanisms of propaganda.
