A singer with an exceptional vocal range (from bass-baritone to countertenor), equally comfortable on stage with a New Wave band or performing a Purcell aria, with an otherworldly, disembodied look that captivated crowds, European yet living in New York, Klaus Nomi was a complex and talented individual. In 1979, David Bowie, then in his Berlin period, recognized the emerging phenomenon before almost everyone else, as was his custom. Klaus Nomi was undoubtedly the first "famous" victim of AIDS in the music world. What was then called the "gay cancer," an unfortunate name reflecting the misunderstanding of this newly emerged disease, cut down this atypical artist at the peak of his fame: platinum and gold records, ecstatic concert halls, a fascinated fashion world – Klaus experienced a meteoric rise between '79 and '82. Then he returned to his planet, wherever that may be.... To mark the 40th anniversary of Klaus Nomi's passing, Sony Music / Legacy is re-releasing his complete official discography. His two studio albums "Klaus Nomi" and "Simple Man" on CD digipack / LP. The first album on ultra-limited Cassette. His 1986 album "In Concert" for the first time on CD Digipack.
