Kiefer's new album marks a return to creating rhythms solo after recent projects focused on a group of musicians. It reflects Kiefer's journey toward self-acceptance, which "went from being extremely afraid of the feelings I have to wanting to face them, accept them, feel them, and learn from them." Although "It's Ok, B U" is instrumental, the track titles offer revealing clues about Kiefer's emotional states. The album's arc mirrors his journey toward self-acceptance as he grapples with feelings ranging from panic to lust and self-doubt — ultimately, his optimistic outlook on life and firm self-awareness are what allow him to come out the other side. Kiefer has collaborated with artists such as Carrtoons and Theo Croker, and is actively involved in developing the Los Angeles jazz and improvised music community. Outside of his growing collection of original works, which includes two albums and a trilogy of EPs on Stones Throw, Kiefer has produced, performed, and written with artists such as Drake and Anderson .Paak, winning a GRAMMY Award for his work with the latter.
