KHRUANGBIN draws inspiration from 60s Thai funk (in fact, their name means "the flying engine" in Thai) and delivers a first UFO album on the LATE NIGHT TALES label, which usually releases high-quality compilations and is trying its hand at releasing an album for the first time. The sound is psychedelic, the bass heavy on `The Universe Smiles Upon You', some passages remind one of a Tarantino soundtrack and others of cool surf-rock. Despite their exotic name, KHRUANGBIN is a Texan trio made up of Laura Lee, Mark Speer, and Donald "DJ" Johnson.
