Late Night Tales

Description

The Late Night Tales collection was created in 2001. The basic idea: to offer a renowned artist the opportunity to select their favorite tracks and complete the set with an unreleased cover version, produced especially for the occasion. The Houston trio had not yet released an album in 2013 when producer and DJ Bonobo included Khruangbin's "A Calf Born in Winter" in his own compilation for the series, but the band has since become internationally recognized thanks to its immediately identifiable sonic palette. "The LateNightTales series is truly special, and we owe some of our current success to Bonobo's LateNightTales; that's how we became part of this family." With a stunning selection of tracks that cross borders and cultures, Khruangbin's interest in global sound system grooves — from Asian pop to Nigerian reggae, from mellow Japanese groove to Latin flavors — is steeped in eclecticism. Thus, we move from Nazia Hassan's Hindu disco "Khushi" to the South Korean rock band Sanullim, from two explosive African tracks to passages through Belarus and Spain, before returning to Texas.
