Former member of the New York folk group Woods, Kevin Morby has made a name for himself with his four critically acclaimed solo albums. The tracks “Destroyer” and “Black Flowers” are taken from his third album, Singing Saw, selected among the best new albums by Pitchfork. “Destroyer” is a minimalist autobiographical keyboard ballad, very different from the version recorded with the band. “Black Flowers,” on this single, borrows less from the grand orchestrations of Leonard Cohen's repertoire than from the melancholic austerity of Bert Jansch.
